I was talking to Tom Frericks tonight and him and his brother are starting this up, it might be very beneficial for high school, college, and amateur baseball players. The website is WWW.MVPBAM.com They are tentatively scheduled to open Friday March 3rd.

I promised Fish I was going to take some time off from being anal, so I have no comment. You must remember this is the Times we are talking about. Did anyone understand what direction the comments from the local high school coaches were going?

They have an editor??? Must be BamBam. You should direct all your complaints to DK17 since he practically runs the joint.

I thought it sounded negative maninblue when I read the article this morning. Just didn't seem like a great article supporting this academy.

Yeah well, if Nemanich is against it, it must be a good idea. I think that a lot of people who don't know ball will take a bad look at this just because its Tom. But those who do will realize how good it can be.

I work in accounting, a far cry from running the place or the editors chair. The spelling looks goofy but I think it is probably correct being they are writing in the plural state. MIB with your expertise can you give us a ruling on this? I think Tom and his brother have a great idea here. I don't know Tom's brother, but Tom is very educated in the game of baseball. He will be able help a lot of people out as he has done in the past.

ups- I could care less what people say or how it is written, as long as people understand what I am saying, my point gets across. what I gathered from it, it is something that is being looked down upon by the coaches, because they can't oversee what their players are doing. i think it is a great idea, for them to get in and take some hacks and have another persons point of view, Gary and Tom know what they are talking about and have a great teaching mentality, might not always come across as such because it may differ from others opinion but they are good and have great baseball knowledge

My main interest in this new facility is how it will affect Solid Foundation. Is it a different market up there or what? Are people not satisfied with Solid Foundation? I have worked with people from St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Cold Spring, and other towns up there with SF, and they all seemed to like it. Any light on this issue would be appreciated.

I don't think there is anyone not satisfied with SF, but only with the fact that it is not in St. Cloud. Its not convenient for most families to haul their kid from St. Cloud to Eden Valley or further once a week, it's just a little too far to go. I think a facility like this is much needed in St. Cloud and will do well.

From what I got out of the article about the Frerickseseses is that they were thinking of bringing instructors in. I don't see why they wouldn't be open to working with SF.

I wish the best of Luck to the Frerick brothers! Why would a coach not want their player to go to something like this or SF or any other camp. Is it an ego thing? Do they think they know more than I do type thing? We will see what happens but I don't see a problem with getting a different point of view. Who knows it will probably save some arms or make a few hitters better because they are actually taught how to throw and how to hit and so on. I wish I would have had the oppurtunity that kids have now days.

As a coach MVP and Solid Foundation is great because kids are getting reps they normally would not get. Two weeks of preseason is a joke to have HS kids ready to play ball, (mostly pitchers) and this is where MVP and SF can help out. But on the other hand when a coach has worked with a kid for four years they should know more about this kid than someone who works with them 1 day a week for a month and I think this is where kids can get mixed messages.
