Former Champlin Logator Eric Utes (brother of current Gators Troy and Ryan), was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor (Grade III Astrocytoma). Troy is hosting a benefit poker tourney Sat., Oct. 25 at 7:30 in Otsego to benefit Eric and his family (more info here: www.facebook.com/anteupforeric). Additionally, here is an excerpt of Eric's story (written by Troy), with a link to his fundraising page. Any help would be greatly appreciated: Eric had been suffering from severe headaches for several weeks when he went to see his doctor. The doctor wanted to prescribe medication and physical therapy to stop Eric's headaches, but Eric knew there was something more. He requested an MRI. The MRI revealed a large tumor on his brain (later diagnosed as a Grade III Astrocytoma). On October 8, 2014 Eric had surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery went well the and surgeon was able to remove approximately 80% of the tumor. For the next several weeks/months Eric will undergo Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy to attack what remains of the tumor. This treatment will take a physical, emotional, and financial toll on Eric and his family. Eric is the sole financial provider for his wife and three young girls - See more at: www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/the-strongest-man-i-know/248147#.VD3MitNWt8w.facebook
