Ballplayers,
My name is Marcus Zahn and I am writing to share with the MBA community a new baseball company I have started. But first, a little bit about me. I am a product of Minnesota Amateur Baseball, having played for the Maple Lake Lakers for nine years – highlighted by a 2008 3rd place finish in Class ‘B’ and a 2012 ‘C’ Championship. After winning it in 2012, I retired as my commute to Maple Lake from the cities became too much. In the years since, I’ve missed the game and wanted to get involved again, but from a different angle. Townball served me very well, and I started Meridian Baseball with the intent of returning the favor to the amateur baseball community.
Open House
We are inviting all amateur players to test our sticks on Saturday, March 21st from 3-5pm and on Sunday, March 22nd from 9-11am at The Shed Sports Complex in Buffalo, MN (www.shedsports.com). We will have some of our apparel on sale as well, and will raffle off a couple free bats. Please see the attached flyer for more details. We have reserved the entire facility, so consider it free BP, and a chance to try a new product!
The Meridian Difference
Meridian manufactures only hard maple bats, and we use only hand split blanks - which is to say that we don’t use sawn lumber. Split maple ensures that the grain will be straighter than any sawn lumber out there ever could be. That said, a lot of companies offer splits. What makes us different is our selectivity. Even with splits, you will find a number of blanks with blemishes, knots, and other imperfections. We don’t slop on a bunch of black paint to cover up a flaw, and sell it as though it’s a top notch bat. You will see the rigor of our selection process in every bat we sell. All our bats are ink-dot tested and meet all MLB specifications (18 pages of very specific, high-touch requirements). I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that we will NEVER sell an amateur player a bat we couldn’t sell to a professional. Finally, a lot of companies pretend to offer customized bats but then just sell an off the shelf model and call it custom. For a minimum order, we’ll actually sit down with our customer and personally design them a bat best suited to their swing in our CAD programming software. The program will be stored in our systems for all future purchases.
Nuts and Bolts
Our website will be up and running in a week or two here, and we will be officially taking orders at that time. In the meantime, please give us a follow on twitter @meridianbats, like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/meridianbats, and come give us a visit at The Shed. We’re very excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to have you try our lumber. Our bats will retail at $129.00 a piece, but since we know what a high ask it is to get players to switch their lumber, all MN amateur players will receive a 40% discount for the 2015 season, with no minimum quantity. Just enter the coupon code “Townball” at checkout on our website.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions. We are as committed to our customers as they are to the game - we can’t wait to start serving the MBA community!
